Request for Public Support

THANK YOU FOR THE OVERWHELMING SUPPORT.  APPLICATIONS FOR AUTHORITY TO OPERATE HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED TO AND NOTICED BY THE COLORADO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION

The intervention period ends January 21st, 2009.  If there are no interventions Green Ride can purchase vehicles, hire employees, and start serving the public.

IF VEOLIA, SUPERSHUTTLE, COLORADO CAB, DENVER YELLOW CAB, SHAMROCK,... (ALL PART OF THE SAME ORGANIZATION) PROTESTS THE APPLICATIONS THEN WE WILL NEED PUBLIC SUPPORT AT A PUBLIC HEARING.  THE DATE AND LOCATION OF THE HEARING WILL BE SET BY THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION IN LATE JANUARY.

ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LIST OF SUPPORTERS WILLING TO ATTEND THE PUBLIC HEARING AND SUPPORT GREEN RIDE AND OUR APPLICATION FOR AUTHORITY FOR TAXI AND/OR AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICES

The primary push for letters of support is over.  Green Ride Colorado submitted the applications on Wednesday December 17th, 2008.  However if you still want to provide a letter you can!  Two "fill in the blank" letters are provided at the bottom of this page.  We can submit additional letters for consideration by the judge at the hearing (date not yet set).

We greatly appreciate anything you can do to help support our drive to gather public support to convince the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) that the need for another private transportation provider in the North Front Range of Colorado is real, overwhelming and growing.  We are looking for support from Boulder, Brighton, Longmont, Greeley, Loveland, Fort Collins, Windsor, Wellington and all points in between.

Green Ride Colorado will provide high quality, modern, safe, and dependable transportation services using advanced technology, environmentally friendly operations, local employees, and local resources.  Green Ride feels a responsibility to provide sustainable regional transportation services while improving quality of life for customers and employees.  Green Ride Colorado will implement an employee owned and empowered lean business model to keep costs low and quality of services high.

It is energizing, gratifying, and humbling to know that we have an opportunity to serve the public and address an overwhelming need for private transportation services in Northern Colorado.  Green Ride Colorado has a plan to add jobs, support the local economy, and improve the environment, in a way that is friendly to the community, and helps solve transportation issues that plague many sectors of our society.  The Colorado North Front Range provides one of the best regions to live in America.  We want the region to have the best of everything, including the best private transportation services.

Thanks for your help and support... we are really looking forward to the moment when we can become an active part of the community supporting business, the local economy, private citizens, visitors, non-profit organizations, and much more.

Bob Flynn, Green Ride Colorado

We will collect, package, and forward the letters with our application for authority to the PUC.

Here are the basic steps Green Ride Colorado must take to get approval for operating authority:
  1. Green Ride Colorado applies to the Public Utilities Commission for authority to operate. (Done)
  2. There is a 30 day period during which other organizations or individuals can intervene. (The clock is running - until Jan 21st)
  3. At the end of the 30 day period, if any individual or organization intervenes, a judge will be assigned to hear arguments for and against the application.
  4. A hearing date and location convenient to all interested parties will be set.
  5. The hearing will provide an opportunity for the public to be heard and for Green Ride Colorado to present their case for a second transportation service.  Anyone who intervenes will have an opportunity to present their case to show that providing authority to Green Ride Colorado will result in destructive competition and will be bad for the public.
  6. A decision will be recommended to the PUC by the administrative judge who holds the hearing.
  7. The public utilities commission will approve or reject the application for authority.
  8. If approved Green Ride Colorado will start providing services as soon as possible.
